Professor Suthiphand Chirathivat

Prof. Suthiphand Chirathivat is Chairman of the Board, Central Group, a leading Southeast Asian conglomerate operating retail, real estate, and hospitality networks across 18 countries. He is also professor emeritus of economics at Chulalongkorn University, founding Executive Director of ASEAN Studies Center and Chairman of Chula Global Network. He was formerly Dean, Faculty of Economics, Chairman of the Ph.D. Program in Economics, Chairman of Economics Research Center, Director of Center for International Economics and Center for European Studies at Chulalongkorn University. His academic interests are international trade, investment, finance, regional integration and development, and emerging issues in Asia in relation to the global economy and society. During his academic career, he made numerous contributions both in books and articles. He was also co-executive editor of the Journal of Asian Economic Integration and was editor of Chulalongkorn Journal of Economics, advisory board of ASEAN Economic Bulletin, and Asian Business and Management. He previously held a position as Advisor to the Prime Minister of Thailand, Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Transport and Communications, thus including Economic Affairs Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Thai Parliament. He holds a Doctorat en Economie from the University of Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris I. He also serves as Honorary President of the Association of Former Students in France, Thailand and was Vice President of Economics Discipline, National Research Council of Thailand.
